PCHP is the only health plan with this program in the Dallas Service Area.  It provides limited coverage for the unborn children of women who are:

  • Not Medicaid eligible and
  • Have an income under 200% of FPL

PCHP will provide coverage under two separate programs. 
CHIP Perinate program: Care for the child before birth.
CHIP Perinate Newborn program: Care for the child after birth.

After birth, the child will receive the same benefits as the regular CHIP program. The benefits will be the same as for the regular KIDSfirst CHIP program.  The same doctors and hospitals will provide them.

The total length of time the child can be on this plan is 12 months.  After this time, the child may be eligible for the CHIP program or Medicaid.
